Would I be able to run Pianoteq at full throttle? (64 buffer size, 256 polyphony, 5 mics, 24\48, etc). Slightly off topic, but I wonder how the new Mac Mini i3 Quad-Core (cheapest configuration) would handle Pianoteq. The created confusion is intentional, so you pay up for an i3/i5 instead. The latter work fine for VSTs and are usually at least twice as powerful as the phone/tablet stuff.īut to differentiate between these, you have to get the exact model number (including the letters attached to it) and then go digging into spec sheets. The Pentium Anniversary Edition for example was based on that. Then there are still Celeron and Pentium CPUs based on the Core platform with lower specs.

These obviously struggle with full blown VSTs as an iPad would do as well. These "Celeron" and "Pentium" computers perform as well as a phone or tablet.

It's especially difficult, because the Celeron and Pentium monikers are now used for two separate architectures.įirst there is Intel's smartphone/tablet platform previously known as Atom. It's difficult to know whether the Celeron chips in those will be powerful enough to run Pianoteq smoothly, and it depends somewhat on what polyphony you're happy with (imo anything more than 64 is fine).
Pianoteq 5 keyboard upgrade#
My desire to upgrade to an i7/i9 is simply motivated by G.A.S., not any real limitations I found in my setup that I can clearly hear. I did have one problem with mine and had to exchange it for a new one within the first 2-3 weeks, but the new replacement has been working fine for almost a year so far. My Mini-PC which I linked, at the time of purchase, was less than half the price of a comparable Intel NUC. However, I am currently plotting an upgrade from my FP30 to an Yamaha N1X or Kawai NV10, and am thinking that if I find the sound unacceptable on the piano I upgrade to, I will also upgrade my Mini-PC to one with an i7 or i9 processor for Pianoteq either by buying such a mini-PC off the shelf, or having someone do a custom build for me.
Pianoteq 5 keyboard Pc#
I've had no problems with its performance at all though I do nothing else on this PC except video messengers and some other music apps. I am currently using a dedicated Mini-PC with a Celeron J3455 and running Win10 Pro, for my Roland FP30 and use Pianoteq running on it 90-95% of the time I play (at least 1 hr/day).
